First off, a summary of yesterday’s stay at the vet. They didn’t restitch any areas, said there are enough stitches in other layers underneath she should be ok. Gave me warning there can be continued oozing & possibly more openings appearing but not to worry. She did poop at the vet & they think she’s getting around good.
Today: glad I read there’s a possibility for some ‘down’ days ’cause today seems to be one.
It started at 4 am when Gracie decided to get out of her confinement. She broke out of her pen (she did that when she was a puppy too!) & woke us up clawing at the bed wanting UP! I put her back in the pen & she seemed calm. But this morning she yelped some & was quivering a LOT (that’s one way she shows she’s in pain). Definitely more missing & loose stitches. Put one of those inflatable collars on her to prevent licking. She certainly doesn’t like it! Vet said I can increase her pain dosage from 1/4 to 1/2 tab every 6-8 hrs. He also added an antibiotic.
She’s been very hesitant to go outside & has only peed once so far today. She actually passed a small tootsie-roll size hard poop in her pen at some point when I wasn’t around. She’s acting a bit ‘depressed’. When she’s out of her pen she wants to jump up on the furniture so bad but she usually pauses long enough for me to help her. However, she did jump up on the couch w/ just a bit of struggle but when she tried bounding up onto the back of the couch which is her favorite look-out spot she couldn’t. When outside she’ll dart away from me to the porch to get back inside which has 3 steps & she’s been able to bounce up those. She’s just so eager to get back inside that’s a totally different ‘personality’ for her.
