Day 6 post op

the cone is so depressing. At first she freaked out & it actually made her move more – she’d chase after me, banging into things as she stumbled around, get as close to me as possible saying maybe something along the lines of “ohpleasepleasepleasegetthisoffme!!!” However, after a short period she then became totally lethargic & continues to be while wearing it. But even as I report on the awfulness of it I believe the incision is looking a bit better today. Thus, based on this experience I’d say I wish we would have used the cone immediately after realizing that blow-up collar was useless.

It’s funny tho, if she wants to be somewhere she’ll get there. She soooooo misses our bed. Several times she’s run back to our room to jump on the bed – one time she couldn’t make it, but 2 other times she did, even while wearing the cone. She’s even gone back there when no one is back there which is totally not like her. She spent the night in the pen last night (will until she no longer needs the cone). At one point the cat came in & curled up on the floor right next to the side of the pen. He NEVER sleeps on the floor. That got Gracie excited & she started clawing at the pen want’n out. Had to move the cat – don’t know if he was wanting to keep her company or torment her. He’s certainly been known to do both.

That, Tugger! He’s such a tease! I’m really glad you have had the companionship of other dogs and their peeps during this time. What great encouragement they have offered!!

Oh my gosh, that little tiny thing jumped up on the bed! I wouldn’t have thought that was possible even with 4 legs. Be careful, Gracie, no more spare legs back there!

So glad to hear the cone is tolerable and the incision is better. It sounds to me like Gracie is doing really, really well.
